R Commander is a graphical interface for R.
How to Install R Commander
1. Open the R Console.
1. Open the R Console.
2. At the prompt (the > symbol), type the following command and then press the Enter or Return key.
Command >: install.packages("Rcmdr", dependencies = TRUE)
Command >: install.packages("Rcmdr", dependencies = TRUE)
3. Be patient as files are downloaded and installed.
4. When the installation process completes, it will display the location of your source packages.
5. You can start R Commander by following by typing the following command and then press the Enter or
Return key: Command >: library(Rcmdr)
Return key: Command >: library(Rcmdr)
Wait a few seconds while the required packages load.
R Commander will eventually load.

How To Add a R Commander Icon to Your Menu
To add the R Commander icon in the Programming menu, you will need to edit your menu. Click on the System menu, highlight Look and Feel, and then click on Main Menu.
To add the R Commander icon in the Programming menu, you will need to edit your menu. Click on the System menu, highlight Look and Feel, and then click on Main Menu.
When the Main Menu dialog box appears, click on Programming on the left.
Now click on New Item button on the right. The Create Launcher dialog box will appear to allow you to add a new item to that folder in the menu.
Click the drop-down arrow in the Type section and select Application in Terminal. Then enter the following information:
Name: R Commander
Command: sh -c 'R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES="$R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES Rcmdr" R "$@"'
Comment: Graphical interface to the R environment for statistical
Then click the icon on the left to select an icon for your R Commander application.
Name: R Commander
Command: sh -c 'R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES="$R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES Rcmdr" R "$@"'
Comment: Graphical interface to the R environment for statistical
Then click the icon on the left to select an icon for your R Commander application.
A Choose an icon dialog box will appear. Your icon location: usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps then click on the rlogo_icon.png file to select it and then click the Open button.
Your Create Launcher dialog box should look like the image below. If it does, click the OK button.
Make sure that your new icon is checked and click the Close button to add it to your Programming menu.
You should now have a R Commander icon in your Programming folder.
Click on the R Commander icon to see if it will work.
You will notice the R console quickly and then R Commander loads.
You are now ready to start using R Commander.
