How-To Fix "Failed To Download Repository Information" (Part 2)
Early this morning when I tried to check for updates, I noticed that message, "Failed to Download Repository Information" popped up again. I remembered that using sudo apt update fixed this error before, but it didn't this time. The problem was with Google Chrome again, but this time it wasn't Google changing its 'Origin' value like it was before. This time, it had problems with the verification key.
Update the Chrome Repository
To get rid of the error you'll need to update the Chrome repository insert the new public key in your system. To do this, open your Terminal and run the following commands:
wget -q -O - https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo apt-key add -

After you install the key, you'll need to set the Google repository for Chrome. Enter the following in your Terminal:
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb [arch=amd64] http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main"
>> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google.list'
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb [arch=amd64] http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main"
>> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google.list'
Then update your cache by entering the following in the Terminal:
sudo apt update
sudo apt update
Then check for upgrades by entering the following in the Terminal:
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt upgrade
You should notice the problem is gone the next time you run your Software Updater.
