Stickynotes
Stickynotes or Indicator Stickynotes is a small application that allows you to place stickynotes on your desktop. This is a great little application to help you remember things such as telephone numbers, addresses, shortcut keys to newly installed applications, WiFi passwords, To Do lists, and etc. A program icon will reside in your system tray when the program is running.
How to Install Stickynotes:
1. Open the Terminal (Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + T)
2. Type the following command: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:umang/indicator-stickynotes
3. Press Enter or Return and type in your password
4. Type the following command: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install indicator-stickynotes
5. Type Y and press Enter or Return

After it installs it should show up in your menu as Indicator Stickynotes.
You can go into your Settings and create different categories which can use a different color code.
Just click the + New button to create a new category. You can give each new category a name and assign a different Background Color, Text Color, and Font. You can make a new category your default category by clicking the Make Default button. You can also remove a category by clicking the Delete button.

You can install the newest version of Sticky Notes for linux from the snapcraft link above. It has the same features as the one installed in Windows.

If you prefer not to load the program every time your system starts then bring up your Startup Applications Preferences dialog box and uncheck Indicator Stickynotes and then click the Close button.
If you just want to quit the application during the current logged in session then click the program icon in your system tray and click on Quit.
