GtkOrphan
A graphical tool to find and remove orphaned libraries on your linux system. An orphan file is a file that no longer serves a purpose because the application that created the file has been moved, altered, or uninstalled. Orphan files can be deleted if the user is confident that the file is no longer being used by any other application. If you are afraid of messing up your system, then I highly recommend that you backup your system or use a program like Timeshift to take a snapshot of your system.

I am using Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 LTS with the Traditional menu and to access the program I click on the System menu, highlight Administration, and I click on Remove orphaned packages.
You will need to enter your password to give the program root access. You can select "Remember password" to prevent entering your password each time you access the program. This will allow anyone to run this program and remove files from your system.
You will notice that GtkOrphan has two tabs across the top: 1. Orphaned packages 2. Non-orphaned packages
Do not remove any files from the Non-orphaned packages tab.
Do not remove any files from the Non-orphaned packages tab.
Click the checkbox next to the orphaned package that you want to remove and click the OK button to start the removal process.
You will be prompted by a dialog box asking, "Are you sure?" You can clickthe No button to back out or cancel or click the Yes button to remove the files.
You may have to run the program a few times to remove all the orphaned files.
