Utility Software
Utility software is software designed to help analyze, configure, monitor, optimize, and help maintain your computer. In this section, I will go over some of the popular utility software used in Linux. Each application will have it's own page with a description of its use and features and screenshots of the software in action.

- BleachBit is another cleaning utility that frees disk space and helps maintain your privacy. It features include: cleans cache, Internet history, temporary files, logs, cookies, Firefox, Google Chrome, Flash, files left behind by Linux, and more. Bleachbit allows you to shred individuals files and folders and wipe partitions. This helps pretect sensitive data from being recovered, if you’re worried about file-recovery utilities.
- Stacer is a cleaning utility that removes files that build up on your computer over time. This frees up valuable hard disk space which allows your system to run faster. It is also a monitoring software that allows you to graphically view and manipulate the running processes on your system. It has a very nice overview of available resources such as CPU and memory. It also allows you to kill and application without using the Terminal.
- Ubuntu Cleaner is an open-source tool makes it easy to clean up your Ubuntu or Ubuntu Derivative system. Ubuntu Cleaner can free up disk space and remove private information from your computer.

- CPU-G is an open source application that shows useful information about your hardware.
- CPU-X is an open source program that gathers information on CPU, motherboard and more.
- Hardinfo - is a small application that displays infomation about your hardware and operating system.
- I-Nex - is a small utility that gathers and displays system and hardware components information.

- Alarm Clock is a fully-featured alarm clock for use with an AppIndicator implementation.
- Caffeine prevents the desktop from becoming idle when an application is running full-screen.
- Conky is a system monitor application that displays an information about various processes that are running on a computer with a GUI.
- deb-get makes is easy to install and update .debs published in 3rd party apt repositories or made available via direct download on websites or GitHub release pages
- GNOME Split is a tool that allows you to split files and merge them back together.
- GParted is a free partition editor for graphically managing your disk partitions and it allows you to format your disks.
- GtkOrphan is a graphical tool to find and remove orphaned libraries on your Linux system.
- Ice SSB (Site Specefic Browser) allows you integrate many of the modern web applications into your menus. These web-based applications will look as if they were installed on your system and they will have regular icons in the menus.
- KRename is a batch file renamer which can rename a list of files based on a set of expressions.
- KShutdown is a nice little utility used to shutdown or suspend your computer at a specified time. It also features various time and delay options, command-line support, and pop-up notifications.
- Magnus is a very simple screen magnifier.
- Meteo weather app allows you to see the current weather conditions on your Linux system.
- Radeon Profile is a simple application to read current clocks of ATi Radeon cards (xserver-xorg-video-ati and fglrx).
- Ubuntu Mainline Kernel Installer is a tool for installing the latest mainline Linux kernel on Ubuntu-based distributions.
