MX Live-USB Maker
MX Live-USB Maker is a program for creating a live-usb from an iso-file, another live-usb, a live-cd/dvd, or a running live system.
How to Use MX Live-USB Maker:
MX Live-USB Maker is created as an AppImage, so there's no need to install anything. An AppImage is a format for distributing portable software on Linux without needing to install the application.
Download the most current compressed file from the live-usb-maker-qt link. At the time of creating this webpage, I downloaded the file live-usb-maker-qt-21.11.glibc2.28-x86_64.AppImage.zip. You can download an older version at lum-qt-appimage realeses.
Once your download is completed, go to the location of the compressed file and extract it.
You should now see a file called live-usb-maker-qt-21.11.glibc2.28-x86_64.AppImage in that folder. The version number may be different depending on when you download the file. The number I'm using is the most current version at the time of creating this webpage.
Normally, you have to use the chmod command or right-click the file and click on Properties...
then click on the Permissions tab and click the box next to Allow executing file as program in order for the file to execute. However, as you can see in the image below it is already checked, so you just need to run the file as an Administrator.
You can execute the file two ways:
1. Open your Terminal into the location of the AppImage. Right-click under the AppImage file and select
Open in Terminal.

Open in Terminal.
Enter the following and then press Enter or Return:
sudo ./live-usb-maker-qt-21.11.glibc2.28-x86_64.AppImage
You version may be different from mine, so replace your filename with mine. The program should run after you enter your password.

2. Right-click the AppImage and select Run as Administrator...
...enter your password and click on the Authenticate button.
You should now see the MX Live USB Maker running as a superuser. You should see your USB device in the upper left, if it is inserted in your machine. If not, insert your USB device and click the Refresh drive list and select the device by the clicking the drop-down arrow.
Next, click the Select ISO button to allow you select an .iso file from your machine.
Notice the Mode will automatically change to Image mode if you're using a distro other than antix/MX linux .iso file. Click the Next button to continue.
This will start the flashing process.
You will see a small Success dialog box when the flashing process is completed.
MX Live-USB Maker is a nice little utility for flashing a single USB device.
I recommend that you give MX Live-USB Maker a try if you're looking for a nice .iso flashing program.
