Type in your password and click on the Authenticate button.
Do not close the Package Installer dialog box until you see "Status: Same version is already installed."
Go to Comodo Antivirus for Linux download page and select the operating system that matches the one installed on your system. Since I am using Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 LTS I selected Ubuntu from the dropdown menu. Then select 32-bit or 64-bit based on your system and click the download button. By default, it will download the file in your Downloads folder. The downloaded file name is cav-linux_x64.deb (for 64-bit) and cav-linux_x86.deb (for 64-bit).

Type in or select the number that matches the language you speak or read. I typed in 8 and then pressed the Enter key.
You will eventually see the message: "COMODO Antivirus is successfully configured, you can start it from Menu or Desktop." Do not panick if you see the message: "RedirFS kernel modules installation failed." This is a common error message.
An icon for the program will be placed on your desktop. I don't like icons on my desktop so I selected the icon and pressed the Delete key on my keyboard to remove the icon.
You can start the program via the menu. Highlight COMODO and then click on COMODO Antivirus to start the program.
If the program did not get installed into your kernel then you'll see the message on the left: "Filesystem filter driver is not loaded!" You can try to get rid of the error by click on the Run Diagnotics button and follow the instructions.
It will recommend that you open your Terminal and enter the following: sudo /opt/COMODO/cavdiagnostic
Open your Terminal and enter the following: sudo /opt/COMODO/cavdiagnostic and enter your password and press Enter or Return.
You will probably get an error message saying the utility found a problem, just click the Yes button to let it try to fix the proble.
You will probably see a message similar to the one below saying the redirfs.ko appropriate for your current kernel does not exist. It recommends that you run sudo /opt/COMODO/post_setup.sh in your Terminal to install it and then run sudo etc/init.d/cmdavd restart.
Enter the following in your Terminal: sudo /opt/COMODO/post_setup.sh Then press the Enter key.
Enter the following in your Terminal: sudo etc/init.d/cmdavd restart.
Close everything and restart or reboot your computer. COMODO Antivirus icon should appear in your system tray. You can update your definition files by clicking on Software Update in the menu or open COMODO Antivirus and update it through the program.
Once your virus database gets updated you'll be ready to scan your system. Click the Scan Now link to start the process.
A Run a Scan dialog box will appear and give you two options. You can scan your entire system by selecting My Computer or you can scan critical system files by selecting Critical Areas. If this is the first time running the program then I recommend that you scan your entire system. Click the Scan button to start the scanning process.
A smaller dialog box will appear and you can see the files and folders as the scan process takes place.
If you have a lot of files or multiple hard drives, then it can take a long time to scan every file. I have four internal hard drives and one external hard drive and it took 3 hours 9 minutes and 8 seconds to complete the scan.
If any viruses were found on your system you can click the Results button to display them. Then click the Clean button to quarantine or remove them from your system.
After you click the Clean button you'll see a small dialog box making sure you want to quarantine the selected items. Click the Yes button to safely quarantine the infected files.
After the files are processed or quarantined you can click on the number of threats to display them. I found 136 threats on my hard drives.
It will display the virus or malware name and tell whether the quarantine action was a success.
If your program still says, "Filesystem filter driver is not loaded!" don't panick. The program will still work. Mike from a forum on the techguy website explains the 'filesystem filter driver' supposed to compile in the "kernel object" (.ko) but most of the time it will not compile. He goes on to say that it will function file with this message.
