How-To Fix Screen Flickering
If you are recording your desktop and you notice flickering or when you play back the video it also contains flickering, then you probably need to change your Window manager. I just recently recorded a video on updating software and I noticed a lot of flickering took place while I was recording my screen. After I completed the video, I watched it and it contained a lot of flickering. The picture below is a snapshot taken from that video. As you can see in the image, the top half of my Terminal disappeared for a brief moment and during that time it created a noticable flicker in the video.
To fix this problem, open your Control Center. Then scroll down to the "Look and Feel" section and click on MATE Tweak.
When the MATE Tweak tool appears, click on the Windows option on the left.
Change your Window manager to Marco (Adaptive compositor) and then click the Close button.
The Marco (Adaptive compositor) has been known to create screen tearing on some machines. If you notice that your computer is experiencing screen tearing after you change your Window manager, then click on the link below that matches the type of graphics used in your machine.
I hope this fixes your screen flickering while your record your desktop like it did for me.
Good luck!
