How to Boost the Audio of a Video File
Have you ever ripped a movie off a DVD or Blu-ray and then noticed the volume is lower than you are used too? Maybe you've recorded a how-to video and notice the volume appears lower than normal. Well you don't have to remake your how-to video or rip off the movie again because Handbrake allows you to increase the audio gain of a video file.

Step 5. You can drag the slider up or press the + symbol to increase the gain or drag the slider down or press the - symbol to decrease the gain. Gain measured in decibels, or dB for short. Click the Speaker icon again and then click Save button after you make the change to your Gain setting. I normally increase the gain by 13dB, but it will vary according to the low volume of your file and the desired increase in volume.
You can increase the gain up to 20dB or...
decrease the gain down to -20dB.
Step 5. You can change the output folder by clicking the drop-down menu in the lower right corner. Click the
Start button when you are ready to start the transcoding process.
Start button when you are ready to start the transcoding process.
You will notice a progress bar at the bottom as the file goes through the transcoding process.
By default, you should see Encode Done! when the process completes. You can change what happens after the process completes by click the drop-down menu next to When Done section in the lower right corner (make the change before clicking the Start button).
When the process completes, you should have a video file that has increased volume.
You shouldn't have to increase the volume on your TV.
