SimpleScreenRecorder
SimpleScreenRecorder is an application that allows you to record your entire screen or just a section of it. It is very simple to use, which makes it a great screen recording utility for beginners. However, it has a lot of features for the more advanced users.
It is my preferred screen recoder for making my How-To videos on YouTube. All I have to do is start my program and press my hotkeys to start recording and when I am finished I press my hotkeys again. It's that simple! This is a great tool for teachers to use to teach mini-lessons that match the goals and objectives of their state standards. These mini-lessons can then be uploaded to YouTube or similar site and then embed in their teacher website. Students can then review the material at home or they can look back over problems missed on quizzes and test to help them learn the material before taking a final exam. It is also a great tool for recording webinars, video games, and video conferencing with your family and friends. SimpleScreenRecorder can be installed via the Software Boutique. You can find it in the Sound & Video section. |

You have to setup your software the first time you use it; however, the default settings works for a lot of people. You can create seperate Input Profiles if you have multiple input devices to prevent you from making a lot of changes each time you change input device. You have the choice
of recording the entire screen, recording a fixed rectangle (a fixed area on your screen), follow the cursor as you move it across your screen, or records OpenGL (an experimental recording settings that can be used for reording things like games). You have the choice to record your cursor or mouse pointer. The mouse pointer helps you if you are creating a demonstration type video. You also select your audio input device from this dialog box.

The next screen allows you to save different profiles to match the location where you upload your videos. It allows you to choose the path where your video will be saved. You can select the container or format such as mp4, mkv, webM, ogg, or etc. You can also select the best audio and video codecs. Uncheck the Separate file per segment option if you want to pause and resume without creating a seperate file each time. It is checked by default, so each time you pause your video it will end the current video file and when you unpause the video it will start a new file.
The last screen allows you to start and stop recording your video. You also can turn on or off a preview window. The preview window allows you to see what you will be recording and it will let you see if you are recording an audio signal.
Once you have started your recording, the Start recording button will change to a Pause recording button. Press Pause recording when you are finished and the Save recording button to save your video file. If you do not press the Save recording button you will lose your video. If you make a mistake as you are recording you have the option to cancel your recording. If you prefer that the SimpleScreenRecorder recording dialog box not appear at the beginning and ending of every video you create, then make sure to enable and use the recording hotkey feature. You can customize what your hotkeys will be for starting and stopping your video. I always minimize this dialog box and use my hotkeys so that I don't have to spend a lot of time editing my video and cropping off the beginning and ending points of my videos.
The icon of SimpleScreenRecorder will appear in your panel when you start the program or when you pause or stop recording.
The icon of SimpleScreenRecorder will appear red or illuminated in your panel while you are recording. This helps you identify if you are recording or not when you use the hotkeys.
I hope this imformation has been helpful to you.
Enjoy recording your screen!!!
