Peek
Peek is an animated GIF screen recorder for Linux. It allows you to screen-cast a specific area of your screen. I use Peek to create animated images to use on my websites. It is a great tool to demonstrate how to select a group of files and copy them to a new location. I used it to demonstrate how to place an icon on the panel by dragging the icon of a program from the menu and it's a great way to demonstrate how to move between tabs in a dialog box. |
This is a great tool for science and math teachers. A science teacher could use it to illustrate how something changes over time and a math teacher could use it to demonstrate how to work certain types of math problems. Then they could place these animated images on their school website so that students could use them to help with their homework assignments.
Peek can be installed via the Software Boutique. You can find it in the Sound & Video section.

Drag the edge of the Peek dialog box so that it covers the entire area that you plan to record.
Click on the red Record as Gif button when you are ready to start creating your animated image. Then click on the Stop button when you are finished.
