Deb-get
"deb-get makes is easy to install and update .debs published in 3rd party apt repositories or made available via direct download on websites or GitHub release pages."
Martin Wimpress, lead developer of Ubuntu MATE (the best flavor of Ubuntu - In my opinion), created a neat little tool that allows you to install third party applications on Ubuntu and Debian based systems.
How To Install Deb-get:
There are two ways to install deb-get, one method is to use the curl command and the other is to download the .deb package.
Method 1:
Open your Terminal and enter the following:
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wimpysworld/deb-get/main/deb-get | sudo -E bash -s install deb-get
Method 2:
Go to the releases section of the deb-get GitHub website and download the most current version of deb-get.
Then locate the file on your system and double-click it to open your package installer. (sudo apt install gdebi)

Click the Install Package button when your Package Installer loads. Then enter your password to continue the installation process.
Wait until you see, Same version is already installed before you close the package installer.
You can now use deg-get similar to the way you use apt-get on your system. Open your Terminal and enter: sudo deb-get list.
You can now scroll through the list and install any third party app by using the command
sudo deb-get install app name.
For example, to install the Atom text editor enter the following: sudo deb-get install atom.
Press the Enter or Return key and enter your password.
sudo deb-get install app name.
