UBUNTU MATE 16.04 REDEFINES LINUX FOR DESKTOPS
By: Joe Collins
"I have not been this excited about a Linux distro since I started using Ubuntu nearly ten years ago. I have always felt that the entire Linux ecosystem took a wrong turn in 2011 and we’ve all been trying to get back on track ever since. The introduction of GNOME 3 and the desktops that it spawned in reaction to it have proven to be innovative and divisive at the same time. Basically, we started over at version 1.0 and it’s taken five years to get back to where we were stability-wise in 2011. Ubuntu MATE seems to pick up where Canonical and GNOME left off, building on proven technology to focus efforts where they should have been all along: Stability, flexibility and user friendliness."

WEIRDEST UBUNTU MATE REVIEW EVER!
By: Mat Hartley
"Mimic different desktop environments – As I mentioned in the video, there are other distros that allow you to alter the look of the desktop to better resemble stuff like Windows, OS X and so on. But Ubuntu MATE goes a step further within its MATE tweak tool. Under the Interface section, you can completely change how your MATE panel looks. So instead of trying to do this manually, this tool allows you to mimic Windows, OS X, openSUSE, and Fedora simply by clicking onto the pull-down menu."

Ubuntu MATE 16.04
By: David Wolski
(Article from LinuxWelt Magazine from Germany)
"Ubuntu MATE makes new computers fast and older computers usable – that’s this Ubuntu variant’s motto. And what’s more, Ubuntu MATE
presents Ubuntu again as a very user-friendly and uncomplicated operating system which seems to fit most fields of application. This latest addition to the Ubuntu zoo offers a carefully designed MATE desktop which maintains the easy-to-understand concept of Gnome 2 –
the desktop that was with mainline Ubuntu while grew into the popular Linux distribution that it is today."

Ubuntu MATE 16.10 Review
By: Mike Johnston
"Ubuntu MATE does the desktop justice in my mind; it's well laid out, easy to use and feels very usable. They also, in my mind, have nailed the new user experience with the excellent and well constructed Welcome app which launches at first boot."
"Overall, I want to congratulate the Ubuntu MATE development team on really working hard to nail the user experience. This is one of the better distributions out there and a great example for others with regards to the Welcome app and the initial introduction to the system. If you are looking for a solid desktop environment to explore, be sure to give Ubuntu MATE a try, it's an excellent distribution."

LinuxAndUbuntu Distro Review Of The Week - Ubuntu MATE 16.10
By: LinuxAndUbuntu.com
"I am using Ubuntu MATE for four days to see how stable it is. I am kind of surprised that not even a slight error has shown up since. Probably the reason for this kind of stability is that MATE has been around for many years now. Anyway, this is best for people who want traditional desktop experience and this is also for those computers which are not able to run modern operating systems anymore. This is really lightweight considering that the RAM usage was around 400 MB. This is also useful for introducing new people to PC world considering its simplicity. So, If you belong to any of the above categories, then go get the live image and install it now."
