Here's an example of a weekly 5th grade science vocabulary list that contains a vocabulary word, definition, and illustration.
After you install Granule, here's what it looks like when you open it for the first time.
To start a new list, click on the Deck menu and then click on New. This will create an Untitled deck.
Now's the time to give your Untitled1 list a name. Right-click on Untitled1 and then click on the Save command.
A Save Deck As dialog box will appear giving you a chance to name your new vocabulary list. It will save the list with a .dkf file extension.
Your new name will replace Ubtitled1 after you click the Save button.
Double-click the new name in your Decks list to open the Deck Player. If you already had a list created, this would open your list so that you could study the list of words.
You can create a new list of words by clicking the drop-down arrow next to 0. Then click on the Edit Deck feature or press ALT+D.
You will see a screen like the one below and you'll be presented with several options on the toolbar.
Click the plus (+) symbol to add a new card to your list.
When the Card View dialog box appears, type the vocabulary word in the Front text box. You also have the ability to add an image file and an audio file. Next, type the definition in the Back text box. You can use the vocabulary word in a sentence in the Example text box or you can add an image or audio file. Click the Ok button when you're finished or click the plus (+) symbol to add a new card to your list.
You should see a Deck View that contains all your vocabulary words and definitions. At this point, I recommend that you click the blue disk or Save deck button to save your work. This will protect your work in case the application crashes or hangs. Click the Close button to close the Deck View dialog box.
You will then be presented with the first card in your newly created deck. You can click the Front or Back tabs in the lower left corner to display the front of the card or the back of the card. If you added an audio file to the card, you can click the speaker icon to hear the audio file. Clicking on the F button will toggle your view from front to back.
Clicking the Back tab in the lower left will allow you to look at the back of your flashcard. Clicking the green arrow pointing to the right will advance to the next card.
