How to Use Converseen:
Once you get the program installed, you should be ready to start the application.
Below is an image of the program when you first start it. I am using a dark theme, so my program appears dark. As you can see in the image below, the center window is divided into two sections: on the left side, you have the Actions Panel, from where you can pick an action to perform on the image(s), and to the right, there's a file selector window that lets you set image properties based on the operation you select from the left pane.
You can take a look through the menus in the slideshow below.
Click the Open Images button on the tool bar to allow you to select images on your machine.
Your images will load in an file selector window on the right. You must select an image in order to perform an action or conversion. You can check each checkbox on the left or select the images and click the Check button on the toolbar or click the Check all button to select all the images in the list.
You can right-click in an empty area in the file selector window to bring up a menu.
Click the drop-down button next to Convert to under Conversion Formats and pick a format from the list. You have over 100 image formats to choose from.
Click on the Image settings button to access the compression level and interpolation settings. Set them as per your preference and click Ok.
If the images you're trying to convert have a transparent background, you can choose to check the box to the left of Replace transparent background option and select a new color for their background.
A Select Color dialog box will appear when you click the Choose color button. Here you can select the color you would like to use in place of the transparent background. (PNG files usually contain a transparent background.)
When you're ready, hit the Convert button in the toolbar to start the conversion process to the selected files.
When the conversion process is complete, click on the Open destination button in the Status... window, and Converseen will create a drop-down box to allow you to open your images directory.
Select the location of your folder or directory in the drop-down box to open the folder where it saved the converted images.
Selecting the top option in the drop-down box opened my file manager to the location of my converted files or images.
You can now compare the original images to the converted images.
Using the Actions Panel
The Actions Panel enhances the capabilities of the program.
Within the Dimensions tab you can check Scale image to enlarge or reduce the physical size of the image(s) by changing the number of pixels it contains. You can can change the percentage or pixel size of the Width and/or Height. You can select Maintain aspect ratio to keep the image(s) proportional relationship between its width and height.
The Scale image features are great for reducing the file sizes for web developers and sending images via e-mail.
Scroll down a bit and you'll see a Save in section. This allows you to select the path of your converted images. You can select Rename to change the converted image(s) file name(s). You also have the choice to Overwrite all, but I would be careful using this command. Your original images will changed, so if you mess up it will be more difficult to go back to the original files.
Next to the Dimensions tab is the Rotate and flip tab. Within this tab you have the choices to rotate your image(s) +90°, -90°, or 180°. You can also flip your image(s) Horizontally or Vertically.
Below is an example of using the Horizontally Flip image command.
If you're looking for a program to reduce or compress your images or photos, then I highly recommend that you try Converseen.
