How To Fix CD Burner Issue "Error While Burning"
I just recently upgraded from Ubuntu MATE 18.04.1 LTS to 18.04.2 LTS and when I went to burn a music CD, it created an error message. I saved my log file and I looked up the error message in the log file. I found a solution on the Launchpad bug report webpage. I entered the following commands in my terminal and it got rid of my error message.
Open your Terminal and run the following commands:
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/cdrdao
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/wodim
sudo chmod -v 0755 /usr/bin/growisofs
Illustrated Instructions
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/cdrdao (Press Enter & enter password)
Open your Terminal and run the following commands:
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/cdrdao
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/wodim
sudo chmod -v 0755 /usr/bin/growisofs
Illustrated Instructions
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/cdrdao (Press Enter & enter password)
sudo chmod -v 4711 /usr/bin/wodim (Press Enter)
sudo chmod -v 0755 /usr/bin/growisofs (Press Enter)
Now exit the Terminal by typing the following:
exit (Press Enter)
exit (Press Enter)
This should fix your problem. You can test it out to make sure. Open Brasero and load your music files into a New Audio Disk Project dialog box. Then click the Burn button.
Select your speed (slower speeds produce the best results), uncheck the option "Burn the image directly without saving it to disc," and then click the Burn button.
Within a few seconds the Transcoding process will start.
Then it will create an image.
Finally, it will start the Writing process.
The software will eject your CD after your all your files have burned to it.
You will see the message, "Audio CD successfully burned" if the method aboved worked for your system.
If the solution above did not fix your problem, then you might need to reinstall cdrdao, wodim, and growisofs. Reinstalling these files would fix any dependecy issues and replace any missing files.
